Morallion Hills Neighborhood Association – Meeting Minutes (PTC Library)

  • Prepared a ballot through a nomination process. The ballot will be finalized and distributed in mailboxes after the mailman delivers the mail this Saturday (9/8). Neighbors will be able to cast their ballots at 624 Grecken Green by Friday, September 14, 2007. There will be a ballot box placed at the curb. Only the resident’s current with their ($20) dues will be eligible to have their vote counted. An envelope will be included with the ballot IF and ONLY if the resident is not paid up. You may include your ($20) dues with your ballot and have your vote counted. Please do not submit cash into the ballot box. Please understand that the ballot box will not be secured. It is recommended that you mail your check to Jackie Bowen at 138 Morallion Hills. Each ballot will be numbered and the ballots going out to non-current houses will be highlighted to check for dues at the time of the vote count. Votes will be counted on Saturday (9/15) and new officers and board members will be elected. If you have already paid then please do not send another $20. If you do not know if you are paid up, please call Jackie Bowen at 770-486-5465.

  • The treasurer report showed $4,309.16 balance in the Association account. The only expenditures recorded since the last meeting was for pine straw for the front entrance.

  • We had a call out for volunteers. The attendance at this meeting was a very nice surprise to most. We did not do a head count but it was estimated at about 45 people in attendance. I want to thank the caring neighbors volunteering for the following:

    • Neighborhood Watch – Kim Cort will take the lead in forming our watch program. If you would like to get involved please contact Kim via e-mail at neighborhoodwatch@morallionhills-ptc.com

    • Socials – Next social will be a Halloween event. Details listed below. Rob Neidlinger will take the lead in planning this event with assistance from Ann Jaeckel and Diane Turner. Also discussed the ‘The 9-Hole Christmas Caroling Event last December’. By popular demand this event will be held again. More details to follow.

    • Front Entrance – We had a nice response to this call. The following people have volunteered to help out with the front entrance area. This includes gardening, landscaping, planning, and/or Christmas Decorations. Some people brought up the desire to have luminaries again this Christmas. The next set of officers/board members can organize this activity.

        Linda George (Lead)
        Judy Thompson
        Judy Jarrett
        Carol Hamilton
        Sharon Cummings
        Robin Hulse (Christmas Decorations)
        Brenda Fitzpatrick

    • Directory – Karen Iampietro volunteered to update the neighborhood directory. Bill Stone and Judy Jarrett volunteered to assist Karen with the directory. Bill, Judy, and Karen will contact residents who have not previously given permission to put their information in the directory.

  • Halloween Social Event – Mark your calendar.

    • When – Saturday, October 27
    • Time – TBD (~4pm)
    • Where – Neighborhood Cul-de-sac TBD
    • What – We will be holding the Halloween Golf Cart Parade to kick off the event. A parade route will be published to allow everyone to take in the spectacle. Trick-or-Treat will NOT be held on this day. Trick-Or-Treat will be held on Halloween (check the newspaper or PTC website for Trick-or-Treat times.)

    • Detailed flyer will be sent with more details in the near future.

  • Morallion Hills Neighborhood Association Website is ready to launch. Marie Sligh has volunteered to take the lead. She has professional experience with implementation of website. Rob Neidlinger will contact area businesses to sponsor the website, in the hope of offsetting the costs of the website. We voted and approved $200 to launch the website and $30/month to maintain the website. It is likely that the costs will come well under these amounts. The vote was to approve these amounts in case they are needed. If you or anyone you know is interested in advertising on our website for a small fee, please contact Rob Neidlinger at 770-632-1140.

  • Line Creek Development and Other PTC area news. Jim Cummings (Nominated for President) addressed the group on recent meetings and events. Jim Cummings recently attended a Civic meeting consisting of the various Home Owners Association in PTC. Here are some of the highlights:

    • New Retail Development going in adjacent to Planterra. This shopping center will have a similar look/feel of the Avenue. It will be anchored by Kohls. The Home Owners Association Civic Organization took an active role in convincing the developer to develop the land much like the Avenue.
    • An Additional traffic light will be added to support this new center. Additional shopping centers are planned along with traffic lights going west towards Newnan. Most of the development appears to be slated to go in Cowetta County just on the other side of Line Creek.
    • Jim Cummings and Kim Cort briefed the attendees on the status of the bridge over Flat Creek. This project is suspended by the city at the current time. The Army Corp of Engineers rejected an earlier proposal. The City owes the Corp another proposal. It appears the requirements laid out by the Corp will drive up the cost of the bridge forcing the City to suspend the plans at the current time.
